OT: Risk (board game)

Hi

I've been playing Risk for fun with friends once in a while for approx. 30 years now, but over the years we've seen a number of rule changes in the different sets we have come across.

Now, I'm certain that there are Risk afficionados here at BGO, and some of you from US as well - the reason, typically the US rules have been preferable over the European rule sets (at least, that's what we've come to think).

But now, when searching for the US rules online, I discovered that there are no such single set of rules for US neither... And that the mission rules also was introduced in US at some point, etc. etc.

So - bring it on - what is the SINGLE BEST set of rules to play by, if you are 3 or more players (typically 4 or 5)?
