Cups + Baffle Box

I didn't have time to post this in the recent thread and since it is pushed down a bit already I figured why not create a new thread. As I said before, there is no way a baffle box should be used without cups. Let me clear up a couple things people expressed or hinted at.

To me it seemed like a couple of you thought that I was waaaaaaaaay too worried about cheating. I am not worried about being cheated in the least. If we had to round to the nearest quarter percent I believe in US tournament play 100% of people would never even attempt this. (I'm not implying that elsewhere it would be higher only that I'm not as familiar with the players there so won't comment) On top of that, I have done my homework over the years. I've always felt it's my business no matter what it is for me to know the rules and for me to know the ins and outs of it if I'm going to be doing it for money.

It completely blew my mind when McEnroe and Mary Joe Fernandez didn't know the rules on Serena's hinder play from last year's US Open. I knew the rule and here we have two people who have played more tennis than I have looked at porn and who did it (and still do!) for a living and they didn't know what the ruling should be. Play a let, what a joke...anyway...

What everyone realizes is that when there is money on the line, or even when there isn't, people will cheat. Vegas realizes this and you can see it reflected in their many rules concerning how cards or dice are handled at the tables. It's not that they think you are going to cheat but they know that someone will and they're doing the best they can to protect themselves from that.

What I'm recommending in using dice cups when using baffle boxes is what I am suggesting to keep everyone as safe as possible. A baffle box is no match for loaded dice whether they be magnetized, weighted, shaved, or other. It can't compete. For a dice mechanic to be able to swap his dice into the game and then take them back out he ideally would like to have possession of the dice in his hands as much as possible. By forcing cups to be used we know how it should look when he picks up his roll, dice to cup, done. If we allow him to hold them the entire time...again, what a joke.

Also, while I've never seen someone try to defeat a baffle box by rolling with their hands perhaps they can have some affect on the randomness of the rolls. I doubt it with a well constructed box but as mentioned, tossing the dice with your hands it would be easier to bypass one (or more?) of the baffles.

And my parting words for the opening roll using a baffle box. It is clearly easier and makes more sense to roll the first roll normally, without the box, than to assign each player a different die color, remember that color, then maybe roll one and move it to the side or roll both at the same time or ... what? If you can't see the first option is easier/better I revert to my old saying, I just can't help you.
