Interesting news from the Chess world

So the maze of chess is being figured out from both sides?
Endgame tablebases already show perfect play with few remaining pieces (six pieces or less are solved for sure - seven pieces being worked on I think). Besides playing these positions perfectly, this helps the computer analyze middlegame positions too since once it reaches a tablebase position play is preprogrammed.
Assuming the article is true, then it will be possible to map perfect play from the beginning of the game. I wonder how many viable opening systems there are - a few hundred maybe? Start taking them out one by one and ... chess is well on the way to being solved.
For practical play I don't think it really matters if chess is solved or not. Who the hell could remember all that stuff anyway? Vas may be right when he predicts computer analysis will enhance opening creativity since many 'surprising moves' will be shown to be playable yet difficult for the opponent to handle over the board.
