1) To my surprise, the Danes took this fairly quickly. I was watching the stream and was far from sure about the take. In the post mortem, nobody seemed to object to the take. Many of the plays were dissed by Falafel but neither he, nor the Japanese, nor Bredahl commented on the take here. I am not sure what I would have done but watching from home, I thought it looked like a small pass.

2) This was a bad play, imo. I commented on it in the chat during the match. I would have come out.

3) It was really surprising to see the Danes cube this. Mochy said "Easter present" when the Danes cubed. Post match Falafel really critizised this cube, saying that "he was soo happy to see the cube" and how he felt it was way premature.

4) Here the Danes didn't pay enough attention to the fact that the Japanese had borne off 7 checkers. The Danes also did not pay enough attention to the state of the enemy board. Clear to bear off 1 checker here but the Danes elected to play "safe" via 1, 4.

5) Same theme as the last position. Again the Danes elected to play safe. Taking 2 off is better.

6) Stack and straggler vs. roll. This is an easy D/T if you know your Trice. It went D/T OtB.

7) Doubling window opens at 50% and since you need almost nothing to take AtS, it is an easy D/T which is also what happened OtB.

I analyzed the match this morning, running all close decisions at XG++ and mini-rolling all cubes. M&M played 1,6 and the Danes played 9,8. I know both Danes and have played both. I consider both Danes really, really, really strong. How they can have performed this poorly is beyond me. I am sure both would have done a lot better by themselves. Strange game, this backgammon.
