USBGF Monte Carlo Backgammon World Championship Satellites

In response to interest expressed by its members, the U.S. Backgammon Federation is pleased to offer an opportunity to compete for entry fees and travel expenses to the Backgammon World Championship to be held in Monte Carlo, July 6-12, 2012 at the Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo, Monaco. All Backgammon World Championship tournament details may be found at bwcmc.com.
Both Open Division and Advanced Division satellites will be held over the period from April 22 to June 18, 2012. All matches will be played online on the GridGammon online backgammon site. Players must be Premium or Youth members of the U.S. Backgammon Federation to be eligible to compete.
Open Division Entry & Re-entry Fees
Enter or Re-enter at Round 1 $50.00
Enter or Re-enter at Round 2 $100.00
Enter or Re-enter at Round 3 $200.00
Advanced Division Entry & Re-entry Fees
Enter or Re-enter at Round 1 $37.50
Enter or Re-enter at Round 2 $75.00
Enter or Re-enter at Round 3 $150.00

As displayed in the tables above, entry fee to enter in the First Round is $50 for Open players and $37.50 for Advanced players. Those preferring to enter in the Second Round may do so for entry fees of $100 and $75, respectively.
90% of all entry fees are dedicated to the Monte Carlo entry/expense pool, designed to cover entry fees to the Backgammon World Championship main tournament and a portion or all travel expenses, depending on the number of players. Players may re-enter and/or purchase multiple entries (i.e. for $200 an Open player could enter at the Third Round and for $150 an Advanced player could enter at the Third Round), subject to the availability of slots. A maximum of 128 slots in the First Round and 64 in the Second Round are available in each Division.

Advanced Division Tournament Format
Advanced Division Early Rounds 11-Points Single-Elimination
Advanced Division Semi-Finals 13-Points Single-Elimination
Advanced Division Final 15-Points Single-Elimination
