Overhead lighting is important. Sometimes the light reflects off the dice and hampers your view of the numbers rolled. I heard of an idea once but don't know if it was ever tried or if it would even work. It involves making dice or coating dice with anti-glare (anti-reflective) material - possibly the same used for eyeglasses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-reflective_coating
