Camera setups for videorecording matches?

I heard of an idea once but don't know if it was ever tried or if it would even work. It involves making dice or coating dice with anti-glare (anti-reflective) material - possibly the same used for eyeglasses...
I don't think so. AR coatings for eyeglasses are better called "pro-transmittive" coatings because they convert ~4% of the reflected rays to transmitted rays. However they are optimized for angle (perpendicular to the surface, presumably). Further, like anything in mass production, they are relatively inexpensive for that specific application. They would not likely be cheap for dice, would likely scratch off from contact with dicecups, playing surfaces, etc., and unless the angle (==> camera vs. dice location) could be maintained near the optimum (which would have to be part of the coating design ==> way more costly), it wouldn't likely make enough difference to prevent the glare.
Better would be to frost the dice surfaces (with a VERY fine grit abrasive) making the reflective properties diffuse (randomly scattered) as opposed to specular (mirror-like as they are now). Then again, as MP hints at, would they accepted by the community already sensitive to dice alteration...?
Physics also has another solution (as mentioned here several times in the past and present): polarizing filters.
