I don't know. I'm not sure we've had an official ruling on this yet.
In a "regular" match, you're not allowed to analyze positions in a break between games.
But this was a break between "sets" in a "best of 3" format, so you could argue that one match was over and another one about to start. You could also argue that the match was ongoing and the first set of games completed.
No matter how you look at it, the ruling was that Ghodsi was not allowed to delay the 2nd leg of the match beyond the allocated break, in order to analyze positions from the first one.
Had the question been regarding analyzing positions within the allotted 10 minutes break, I'm not sure how the ruling had gone. I wasn't part of the tournament committee, and our general tournament rules doesn't clearly define breaks between matches (if they are to be handled like break between games).
Anyway, that is beside the point here.
I'm writing this because from the thread it could sound like Ghodsi was "stripped" of his rights to a perfectly reasonable break. That was not the case. He wanted to take additional time to analyze positions, and was refused to do so.
