So, you would think that bad time management in speed matches wouldn't affect MWC relative to normalized error rate?

For most players and most matches, I agree with you. And maybe the difference is indeed very small for the ones who performs better or worse than the majority. Neglible, perhaps you're right? I hope not.

I wonder if we would ever assemble enough data from clocked live play, to make such an analysis with significant results...
