I haven't played in clocked tournaments, but if I did, I'd certainly do such calculations OTB. I might not do it for, say, an initial cube at 8a9a, where I'd just pretend it was for money, but for any recube, or at a lopsided score, I'd do the gammon price calculation if the position looked at all gammonish.

If you're capable of doing such a calculation, and you don't, and you find yourself with a lot of reserve time left over at the end of the match, then you're just being a donkey.
