Say, "Thank You" And Walk Away

Hello Dave,
Sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience. The vast majority of those whom I meet at backgammon tournaments are reasonable, polite and courteous. Sounds like the opponent you described has what Carol Cole has called "ego/inferiority issues." You need to realize that this guy is not a healthy balanced individual.
It would be a very good idea for you is to have as little to do with him as possible. It would be a mistake to tell him he is being a bad sport because, believe it or not, you might end up on his lengthy "sh*t list," he might start bad-mouthing you, distorting the truth about you and even call you a "cheater" or "liar." I am speaking from experience. If you are new to the US tournament scene, this may be hard for you to believe, but there are a few tournament directors who not only tolerate such a character, but actually encourage, endorse and enable him.
My advice is to politely say, "Thank you" and walk away, avoiding further conversation.
