Nacbracs for Cube Actions Summary

This post presents a concise summary of how nacbracs are coded for cube actions. The information here is drawn from two posts in this thread: BGO Msg. No. 119634 and BGO Msg. No. 119117. Only the data that are coded within square brackets are described here. Bot code and trial counts are appended following the brackets, but they are not discussed here. See Nacks excellent Explanation of nacbracs to see how bot code and trial counts are encoded.
Definitions: Action, Equity and Error
We use the terms action, equity and error to describe the three things that are coded within the brackets of a nacbracs for cube actions.[action equity±error]
- action The action is a single, upper case letter denoting proper cube action.
N = no double, D = double, R = redouble and X = no redouble.
- equity In most cases, equity gives the absolute equity resulting from the proper cube action. When the correct cube action is double/pass, however, instead of coding the obvious equity of a drop, the equity for an incorrect take is substituted.
- error The error is the difference between the equity coded above and the absolute equity of a common error. Thus, error gives the amount of equity you lose when you make the error.
As with the nacbracs for checker play, all equities and errors are given in milli-points of equity. Multiply the number the bot reports by 1000.
- sign Except in the case where the proper cube action is no double (too good), sign is always a minus sign. For too-good, it is a plus sign. Note: The preferred minus sign is an n-dash (Alt+0150), but you will be understood if you use a regular hyphen.
The following sections detail specifics for four classes of correct cube action. Once you understand the basics, these should be all you need in order to prepare a nacbracs.
1. Proper Cube Action Is No Double/Take
- action N for no initial double, or X for no redouble
- equity Equity( no double )
- error Equity( no double ) Equity( double, take )
- sign Minus sign or n-dash
2. Proper Cube Action Is Double/Take
- action D for initial double or R for redouble
- equity Equity( double, take )
- error Equity( double, take ) Equity( no double )
- sign Minus sign or n-dash
3. Proper Cube Action Is Double/Pass
- action D for initial double or R for redouble
- equity Equity( double, take )
- error Equity( double, take ) Equity( no double )
- sign Minus sign or n-dash
4. Proper Cube Action Is No Double/Pass (Too Good)
- action N for no initial double, or X for no redouble
- equity Equity( no double )
- error Equity( double, take ) Equity( no double )
- sign Plus sign
Nack gives excellent examples in the posts cited above.
