Blue is Player 1XGID=-a----D-CA-aeD---c-e----BA:0:0:1:41:1:0:0:13:10 Blue to play 41
eXtreme Gammon Version: 2.03
It is just the third roll, and I am already pretty much clueless! Let’s see if I can talk myself into the wild slot.
- Z = Reverse split (Bar/24, 13/9) — This play locks up an asset, but what a cost! Making the 9pt means burying three checkers on 24pt. That must be wrong. At this juncture, putting a checker on the 21pt is more urgent than making an outside point. Blue cannot wait until next turn to split; he must do so now.
- B = Both (Bar/21, 9/8) — With three checkers back to White’s one, Blue must bid for an advanced anchor, and threaten any builders White brings down into his outer board. Lifting the blot from the 9pt is a play made only because it is “safe.” It avoids having to leave a direct shot.
- E = Each (Bar/21, 6/5) — At this very early stage, Blue already trails by 25 pips. He has three checkers back, compared to White’s one. Being hit is not a good thing, but it is also not a disaster. Blue trails in the race now, so if he is hit, he will not be sacrificing a lead. The downside to slotting is not too bad. The upside, however, is very good. When Blue can make the 5pt, he will have greatly improved his position. The risk:reward ratio says, “Get wild!”
In case anyone does roll this out, my request is for unlimited games, rather than at-score.
