No, in my opinion. But, you raise a good issue. Other parameters that need to be factored are: Entry fee costs and frequency that the tournament is held. Entry fee for an ABT Open Division Tournament is usually $ 250. Entry fee for a U.S. weekly club meeting is more like $ 10. On the other side of the spectrum the Monte Carlo World Championship entry fee is slightly over $ 1000. Based on that I'd accord Master Points from Monte Carlo to be worth 4 times what the typical U.S. ABT event awards.
The ABT aleady factors "size of field" into its points system. A field of 64 awards a total of 64 points (half of that for an equivalent size Intermediate Division). That's good.
I've learned that in Bridge small local tournaments are factored into the master rating system, but the points are "micro-points". That would be something to consider down the road, but first let's build a world ranking system based on big once/year tournaments.
