No lists of this kind should be determined by a single tournament, or even a few tournaments.

If you want a world ranking list, you need to take into consideration as much backgammon as possible, due to the volatile nature of our game. You cannot compare to chess, tennis or similar, it makes no sense.

Another thing to keep in mind is that in backgammon you have no walkovers. If you play 10 matches vs. poor opponents, it takes a lot to win 7 or 8 instead of 6! In the sports that have been compares to, typically you'd be 99% favorite or more, against such dogs, so the ranking systems doesn't reward it.
