You are down a ton in the race. Basically, you are looking to control the outfield and prevent White from escaping his last checker. The 22 point doesn't really help you that much since he has already cleared his midpoint, so what exactly are you supposed to be holding? You will be primed either way if White makes his 4 point, one way anchored at the edge with 3 checkers back (the other checker still not at the edge), the other way anchored not at the edge but with only 2 checkers back (not a huge concern as Blue's timing is much better). White's bad rolls (especially 65 66 64) play much worse after 22/16. So 22/16 should be a clear play.
The rationale for 6/4 is the duplication of all 2s to make the 4 except 62 and 52, and to utilize all the checkers to make a prime. You need an outside prime, so the spares on the 6 point don't want to go anywhere deeper than the 4 point.
