a better way to pick the giants(assuming the giants are the best)

A high stakes money competition, if played long enough, would be an excellent way to determine who the better money player is, but certainly not the best match player. Without naming names, if I had to make a list of who I thought the best 10 money players in the world are, and a list of the best 10 match players in the world, there would not be a lot of names on both lists.
Some people suggest tests and quizzes to determine skills, but that only tests knowledge, not skill. Skill is how you use that knowledge to win against another human, and only direct competition and results can measure that.
The other problem is sample size. I think if the top 10 money players in the world competed against each other 8 hours a day for a week, the one with the most wins may not at all be the best player...just the one who got hot that week or who had the best stamina that week. If the same group played again, whoever won the previous time would only be a small favorite at most, against any other individual in the field.
We all know that the difference in skill between the top 10 players in the world (if we could define clearly who they are) is probably less than 1.5 PR, and that leaves a lot of room for the dice to dictate the winner.
So no matter how we hypothesize, we will never know the answer as to who is the best money player and who is the best match player, but it's fun to discuss it and guess at it.
