In Response To: Ignoring idiotic plays (Jim Stutz)

Tim- Thanks for taking the time to make the post. I found it very informative

I also make more than my share of blunders that upon retrospect I wonder why in hell did I make that move. For me it is often just not considering all the candidate moves. I will see a move that "looks good" and make it without even considering another move that is obviously better. I have identified a couple of reasons for this. The first is what I have been chastising myself as "lazy mind". I just have to discipline myself to not just jump at the first plausible move. The second is myopic vision, especially when playing live. I will be focusing on one quadrant of the board where it is important to make an improvement and not even look at the entire board.

I have no doubt I can improve my PR the most by simply eliminating a high percentage of stupid plays by developing a systematic approach to every move where I identify and consider the candidate moves before pushing the checkers and picking up my dice.
