statistical significance

I cited a 2.3 PR because this was the result posted by Iancho in his most recent list. This was based on the last 50 matches from Stick. Additionally, we know that he played a 2.3 in his 16 matches with Joe, 2.2 in his money match with Wells, and my database shows 0.7(!) after 5 games played for 100 a game.

How meaningful is this sample? I am not certain. Maybe Iancho can tell us the standard deviation in PR in the matches from his database. But I suspect it would be incredibly difficult for a player with a true PR of 3.0 to get lucky and post a 2.3 after 50 matches.
