My own experience

Here is my personal experience with playing Stick, and why I think it is important to clear this up.

I returned the game a year and a half ago, after a 15 year absence. Needless to say, a lot has changed, including the names at the top of the food chain. I like to play against the best players, so I actively sought out Stick on GG and invited him to play.

We played dmp for 100 a match. After 5 games, Stick was up 5-0 and played a 0.7 pr. This was especially galling, since I had played a 2.2 ( which is basically the best I can do). During one of the last games, I received a private message from a top player I am friendly with, warning me that there had been rumors of Stick using a bot online.

Now, what am I supposed to do there? Keep playing even though I might be getting cheated? I don't mind giving away EV to a better player, but the idea of allowing myself to be cheated is intolerable. Basicaly, it becomes a Bayes Theorem question. The chances I am being cheated are small vs any given opponent, but given that someone just warned me and my opponent is playing perfectly, now what are the odds? So, I did the only thing that made sense and quit.

Now, if the accusations of cheating are nothing but empty slander, this incident shows one of the ways he is being damaged by them. He lost a paying customer. After years of hard work he has climbed to the top of the food chain and deserves to be able to gobble up tasty fish like me when the opportunity arises.

I, for one, will feel much better if we just clear this up so that I can go back to donating to Stick.
