I have heard it argued before. When you are not good enough to double, but induce a pass when you double anyway, you should not be dinged on your PR. Makes sense to me.

There are whole host of readers who will be checking Stick’s PR at Novi. If you are one of them, you may want to make an adjustment on the following two cubes in his match against Harold Rex. According to XGR++, the proper play in both is no-double (not good enough). Both times Stick induced a pass.

It was clear to me as I watched the video that he was reading his oppponent, and adjusting to him.
