how to find people to play backgammon

I do not remember if I have posted this before or not. Anyway, I have been trying to find people in my town or close by to play with. I have put in messages in my Church newspaper plus other Churches papers,also the senior services center in my town I have contacted to see if there would be anyone interested in playing and learning the game. I have a nice place in my complex to play, but everyone here wants to play cards with no interest in backgammon. I would put something in the local paper here, but I have been reluctant because I do live in a real nice place here and I would have to screen very carefully.The people here are all retired as I am. Are there any ideas about how I could find people to play with? I also tried meetup.com with no responses.I am not that interested in playing online as I have tried it along with Daily gammon but I would prefer to play with other people in person. Thanks for your help.
