Is backgammon like golf?

Nowadays when I play against the computer, I find that I get far more upset when I make a dumb mistake than when I lose.

Though I don't play golf, my intuition is that the scoring system in golf is somewhat akin to the error-rate system in backgammon, in that both systems measure not how good you are, but how bad you are. The demand in both games for consistent, precise play, where you're competing against yourself as much as you're competing against your opponent, seems to lead to similar kinds of frustration and self-recrimination.

Anybody else feel that there's a psychological similarity between the games?
