Blue to play 32

51 and 32: both are awkward in the early going. It’s unfortunate to get both in sequence.

Taking a quick survey, we have:

  1. Blue has already split his rear checkers. Should he “resplit” in a bid for an advanced anchor? If so, which one? He can slot the 22pt, 20pt or 18pt.
  2. White’s 8pt is stripped. How does this affect the decision to go for an advanced anchor?
  3. How important is it to bring a builder (or two) down into the outfield?
  4. What about “safe” play, 13/8?
What is your thinking in this position where Blue has already dropped 0.25 points of equity after only 3 rolls?

Mike
