I don't know, if it is useful, but here are my suggestions. The USBGF is a great example. The monthly tournament too. A tournament without money, just for the honor, with strong players involved. So this proves for me, that backgammon is a game of skill, based on an environment of chance. A pure game of chance is boring, without the element of gambling, but backgammon is also played like chess, just as an intellectual showdown. That proves for me more then any math, that backgammon is a game of skill.

This was, as a foreigner, the major reason for me to join the USBGF: to meet persons, who have not only a gambling attitude to the game of backgammon. The monthly tournament is a good example for playing competitive backgammon without money involved.
