2013 Texas Backgammon Championships -- San Antonio -- Rooms

All is progressing well with the tournament plans and we are anticipating very high attendance figures. We can easily accommodate the projected attendance in the playing venue, we wish to ensure we can also readily accommodate all of the projected attendance within rooms in the Menger Hotel.

For the mutual planning benefits of the Menger Hotel and of the tournament organizers, it would be greatly appreciated if players can make their hotel room reservations as soon as possible upon their decision to attend. We have a fairly generous block of rooms reserved for the tournament; however, early trends provide us considerable confidence that we will exceed this number of rooms.

The hotel will only incrementally increase the reservation block as we meet certain thresholds and, of course, they are accepting non-tournament reservations in the interim. Thus, the earlier we receive reservations the higher the reservation block can be increased and the more likely it becomes that we can readily accommodate those players making attendance decisions closer to the tournament dates.

We are told to fully expect the Menger Hotel will be sold out during our tournament dates. They do own an adjacent property (across the street from the Menger) which can absorb overflow patrons with last minute reservations, if necessary, when the Menger fills; however, we much prefer that all backgammon players experience the ambiance of the Menger and the convenience of lodging in the same property as the playing venue.
