XG cube analysis -- Methodology question

Prior to this work, previous documented analytical approaches had assumed typical take equities of about 0.57 regardless of gammon and backgammon percentages.

Rick, could you provide a bit more detail on this statement? I know the late 70's works of Keeler+Spencer and Zadeh+Kobliska came up with this value (or something close), but they specifically stated they were only considering games where gammons and backgammons were irrelevant -- that is, races. Did others take this info and then assume the same for games with G & BG content?
