Taking a checker off doesn't hurt (much) in terms of chances of getting hit, but will help if we actually do get hit. Assuming we play 1/0, we're missed, and opp keeps 2 or more on the bar, is there any roll that doesn't allow us to come down to an even number of checkers on the 2-point next time? Yes, the 22 roll. That isn't enough to offset the value of the checker borne off, though.
