White is Player 2

score: 2
pip: 143
7 point match
pip: 108
score: 6

Blue is Player 1
XGID=--Bb-BC-DB--cB---c-cbb----:1:1:1:11:6:2:0:7:10
Blue to play 11

8/7(2) and 5/4(2) is my play, too.

Making the bar point now means that it will have to be cleared later. That could be a problem, but Blue needs it in case he runs into trouble clearing his midpoint.

Slotting the 4pt is a possibility. With no spares within direct range, however, Blue would probably have to break one of his outside points to cover. Considering that Blue has escaped both back checkers from behind White’s broken five-point block, slotting is probably too risky here.

Having chosen not to slot, Blue then has the choice to leave a gap on his 4pt, where it is now, or to creep forward, leaving it on his 5pt. That’s an easy one. In case Blue never fills the gap, it will be much easier to pass when the gap is on the 5pt.
