Rake?

Hi Mustafa and others!

I see in other comments that players are delighted to play in Istanbul and it seems that you'll have good attendance and successful tournament.

But I have (for players attending too) a question regarding my math:

1. Registration fee is 120 euro.

2. You receive free meal (20 lira = 8,5 euro) and entry to anniversary ball (95 lira = 40 euro). Total 48,5 euro.

3. You expect more than 150 players.

4. Winner receives 2450 euro (1000+800+650), 2nd place 910 euro (650+260), 3rd place 650 euro, and 4th place 240 euro. Total 4250 euro.


(1) - (2) = 120 - 48,5 = 71,5 euro that is left per player (5)

(5) * (3) = 71,5 * 150 = 10.725 euro (6)

(6) - (4) = 10.725 - 4.250 = 6.475 euro remaining.


Rake is 6475 / 10725 = 60% (and gets higher with more than 150 players)


I know that players are usually complaining about high rakes in tournaments which have 15% rake. I'm wondering how 15% is too much, but four times more rake is suddenly just fine?


I'm sorry if this sounds like negative comment but I'm really puzzled with this and would like if somebody could answer me.
