In Response To: Rake? (Chiva Tafazzoli)

just stay home and play in croatia. but then again, oops, you´re not very welcome there neither as part of tournament organisation.... hmmm....

I know I can't change your opinion about me, but just to correctly inform readers on this forum:

I don't know who is your source of (wrong) information, but here are some facts.

I might not be the most popular player/person in Croatia, but even still here are some examples:
1. They've put me in charge in creating Croatian version of ABT points. Anybody could do that, but they chose me.
2. They asked me twice in a row to be a TD of Croatian Masters tournament (tournament at the end of the year for the best players of that year) + Open tournament for the rest of the players. There are other tournament organizers in Croatia, but somehow I was chosen.
3. (This is regarding a point in your first reply: "I suggest (as I did before many time to you) you run your own tournament where you offer more with no rake")
Rijeka Open 2010 (completely my organization) had all this:
--- Swiss format with 9pt matches
--- four matches guaranteed for each player
--- playing room directly above Adriatic sea
--- panoramic tour trough the city with double-decker cabriolet bus
--- dinner on a boat
--- 100% entry fees returned as prize money
--- handmade trophies
Players must have payed a lot for that? Yeah, they payed 200 .... wait for it .... Croatian kuna. That's 28 euros! 28 euros of entry fee, 0 euros registration fee.
How much did I earn with that tournament? One player who traveled across the whole Europe playing in tournaments said: "This is the best little tournament in Europe." That was my salary.

As y'all can see, I have some experience with organizing and running tournaments which offer 'something extra', and I know how much things are costing and how much time (before the tournament) it takes for TD to have an interesting tournament.
And I'm still puzzled with all that money 'disappearing' from the Istanbul tournament.

I hope this discussion (personal attacks) won't continue, because this thread isn't (or at least it shouldn't be) about me - it is about the tournament in Istanbul, and I still think that I asked (and didn't get good answer) legitimate question about it.
