I played around with this position a bit more and I think I was on the right track with my comment about White's desire to unload her stacks. Looking at GNU's temperature map or XG's dice distribution is quite illuminating. If you leave a blot on the 24pt, then White has several double-hitting rolls that play reasonably well for her. Though you might think that White would want to play safe when so far ahead in the race, she also doesn't mind attacking when your board is so weak and she has lots of ammunition in the zone. If you advance 24/22, then White's 6's don't play so well. For example, after 8/5, White will play 7/5* 7/1* with a 62, but after 24/22 6/5, White will play 13/7 13/11 instead.

Another thing to check if one is interested in fine differences in the rollout results is White's cube action after the play. XG1 doubles after 8/5 or 6/5 6/4 but not after 24/22 6/5.
