Gridgammon and extreme gammon

I have been watching tournament matches on Gridgammon and I noticed that several people watching also, were able to check checker moves and cube action on extreme gammon at the same time. Can someone explain to me how that is done? I am recording and watching, and do not understand how to go back and forth to extreme gammon if I wish to check on particular moves and cube action without losing the recording.
