2013 Texas Backgammon Championships -- San Antonio

Welcome to Texas and to San Antonio.

Mochy, I will arrive tomorrow as I think Tara will as well -- though she lives in San Antonio and may stop by earlier. You may see some other players begin to arrive today including Patrick and Carla Gibson, Robert Stoller, and, I think, Neil Kazaross. Should be quite a few arriving Wednesday.

For yourself, once you have recovered from the flight, you will have some great sightseeing -- may be a small cool front move through today with some showers but all of the days afterward should be very nice with sun and the daily highs around 70 degrees F (21 degree C, I believe).

If you are going to visit the Alamo next door to the hotel I would suggest you first go to the IMAX theater in the Rivercenter Mall directly behind the hotel -- they have a 42 minute film shown at the beginning of each hour which tells the story of the Alamo. You many have a better appreciation of the history that you are seeing after seeing the film.

Also, you might find it nice to know that on the other side of the hotel from the Alamo there is a pedestrian street with some shops and stores -- included is a convenience store where you can find all sorts of incidentals, snacks, soft drinks, etc.
