Thinking optimistically: My focus is on making more points on my side of the board, particularly the 4-point. I need ammo. The fresh spare on the 20-point looks like the best candidate for that.

Thinking pessimistically: Wherever I leave a blot it's likely to get hit. Hitting is the first half of opp's making a point. Which point would I rather he not make?

Thinking realistically: Right now I don't have a lot of flexibility. I need to make new points but if I lose my flexibility I lose the ability to do that, and in fact may be forced to give up points I want to keep. Which play preserves flexibility?

Unfortunately the answers to these three questions don't appear to be the same. Today I'm in a realistic mood:
