Jeroen Sikkema has made the amazing discovery that there are hundreds, perhaps thousands, of cube provocation plays in late bear off races.

There are indeed many thousands of Wisecarver positions (proper cube provocation plays). Inspired by your post, I wrote a program to search myself. I looked at positions with up to 10 checkers per side and no checkers beyond the 6-point and found 72,578 of them. That's approximately 1/18559 of these late bearoff positions that are Wisecarver positions.
