Petko and the U.S. !!!

Congratulations to Petko Kostadinov for winning the 2nd IBC Championship, to Rod Covlin for finishing 2nd, and to the U.S. for winning the team championship by earning 16-points, winning by an amazing 9-point margin.
The U.S. had three of it's four entrants make the quarterfinals and locked up first place after Petko and Rod won their matches. Petko and Rod each won their semifinal match as well and played in the final, with Petko winning the best two-of-three 13-point match set 2-0.
Ed O'Laughlin was a quarterfinalist and Micheal Battaglia also was a member of the U.S. team.
Petko has earned a standing as one of the world's very best players with this victory, along with his consistent showings in Open and Master events. He currently sits at the top of the rating on GridGammon, probably the most prestigious backgammon online site, where the world's top players participate.
Hat's off to Petko, Rod, and the entire U.S. team!
Congratulation to the teams from Turkey and Japan for earning 7 points each and finishing 2nd and 3rd.
