What kind of behaviour should we tolerate at a tournament - Beltway ABT example

Your recounting is not entirely accurate, Bill.
There was no witness testifying during this incident.
During the discussion, while I was asked to rule, the interaction between A and B was decidedly less than cordial but not profane. 'A' initiated the action that created the conflict (and did not deny it, at least in my presence). 'B' eventually acquiesced and allowed 'A' to play the move legally, even though my ruling favored 'B'.
I then left to go back to the table where the brackets were...as those in attendance know, that was in the lobby outside the playing room. I was not made aware until later that evening that evidently the un-pleasantries between 'A' and 'B' continued throughout the rest of their match.
It was severe enough that later that evening well-respected 'C' said that 'B's behavior was the most revolting display 'C' has seen in 30 years of live backgammon. But I was not aware of this until after the fact.
I heard complaints about 'A' also.
'B' is a local player, relatively new to the game, and does not have many ABT tournaments under his belt. He has been counseled by at least two of the experienced local players that his behavior was not acceptable. He won't be identified here, at least not by me, as I think he deserves a second chance.
