Growing and Promoting Backgammon--Two exciting USBGF initiatives

Linda Ring of the North Suburbs of Chicago has arranged for two 90-minute backgammon sessions for 60 high school students at Glenbrook North High School. The sessions will be Wednesday, March 20th. Phil Simborg and other volunteers of the USBGF will work with small groups to teach and play our favorite game.

There will be contests and drawings for boards--the more people with boards, the more the game will grow.

Additionally, on April 5th and 6th, Phil and Jason Lee will be representing the USBGF at the National Museum of Math in New York City, where up to 200 donors to the museum and their guests will be exposed to the mathematics of backgammon and offered a chance to test their skills in a backgammon/math quiz and related topics. Then the group will split up into smaller groups and learn to play the game. Boards will also be given away as prizes.

Anyone interesting in donating boards or money to buy boards can donate to the USBGF Boards for Kids program. Email Phil at psimborg@sbcglobal.net

Note there are several other individuals around the country starting clubs at schools, retirement homes, and various private groups and clubs. The USBGF supports all these efforts with boards and teaching materials and strategies through the Education Committee.

Be a part of the growth of backgammon by joining and supporting the USBGF and the Boards for Kids program and by volunteering your own time and effort.
