I am just a dabbler in advanced mathematics, but I thought I had seen it pretty conclusively demonstrated that a random walk along a line between two poles always terminates at one pole or another - even though it seems like intuitively "you might just keep going back and forth in the middle forever." Am I remembering this wrong?
