Yes, sorry, that's what I meant.

Of course it is silly to apply a method ignoring an explicit precondition while calling the result of the method for nonsense, implicitly faulting the method.

I don't think anybody was doing that. My point was that the method can give insight into positions with slightly more checkers, although of course the further you extrapolate, the less reliable the results would be.
