I'd hit, but you may be right.

One key difference between Kit's position and the posted position is flexibility. In Kit's position, White isn't threatening a whole lot. In fact his position is a bit awkward, so Blue can play safe without worrying too much about being blitzed or primed. He'll likely even have some blots to shoot at next turn.

In the posted position, White has blitzing and priming threats, and another blot to shoot at. His own blots aren't in as much jeopardy since he can protect them by attacking. This raises the value of Blue attacking first, and unlike Kit's position, Blue is flexible enough to take the initiative if the dice go his way.

Or so I think.
