Right. Furthermore, I believe that if you roll an ace, clearing the 7pt before the 8pt is usually better even if it's not against a 2pt game, though perhaps not always for exactly the same reasons. Against an ace-point game, you of course don't want to pile up on the 7pt. But even against a 3pt/4pt/5pt game with one on the bar, I think it's usually better (if you roll an ace) to clear the 7pt and bring two checkers in than to clear the 8pt and leave three checkers outside.
