Christian: I see no reason to change the rules of golf just because Tiger doesn't know the rules well enough.

You may not see a reason, but the television executives and advertisers all do. They know that ratings go up by ump-de-dump huge amount when Tiger plays on the weekend. This is a business, after all.

Sport, competition, and human excellence are also in there somewhere, but it is very hard, when push comes to shove, for them to push aside the money.

By the way, some of this extra TV money also flows through to the other players, so they, too, have a motive to see Tiger playing on the weekend.

’course, you knew all that, already.
