Then one wonders why they were so vigorously calling you and texting you when you were only 5 minutes late? This sounds like lack of communication amoung the staff.

Based on my experiences over the years, I strongly recommend to let the head director know if you may be a few minutes late and the reasons why (ie late flight). But sometimes he isn't in the room when you registering rushed for time so you have to tell a staff member.
