Unnecessary Coast-To-Coast Traveling

There is a lot of unnecessary traveling going on when the format is 2-2-1-1-1 instead of 2-3-2, if the series goes seven games. Takes a lot of money, time and wear on the body (not to mention increased pollution and increased mortality risk) to do an extra coast-to-coast-to-coast round trip. Bet the airlines love the 2-2-1-1-1 format.

I wonder if I could get a reward for explaining this to the NBA officials. Not sure how they did it, but Major League Baseball somehow figured it out right. MLB has been around a lot longer than the NBA, so maybe the baseball folks have had a lot longer to think about it.
