Basketball Playoffs Probability Question

From a league perspective, one obvious goal would be to maximize the expected number of games (so as to maximize revenue), which would suggest 3-4 as a format. From a fan's pov, I'd like to maximize the chances that whichever team wins does so in front of its home crowd. I haven't thought through what format does that, but 3-4 may well be correct for that as well. It's also good for travel. The only down side I can see is that it adds insult to injury in cases of an upset by minimizing the number of home games for the higher seed.

However, since I expect to be a fan of the lower seed as often as the higher, I think 3-4 makes a lot of sense as a policy. It is just a bonus that it'll maximally annoy those fans/"experts" that believe strongly in momentum and other similar psychological effects.
