Undefined equity

I don't know if many people know it, but the first person to discover that equity may not be defined in money backgammon was the famous computer scientist, Bob Floyd. He was analyzing a position constructed by Bill Kennedy and wrote about it in a 1982 Las Vegas Backgammon Magazine article.

"The expectation for the first player if the game is played as a perpetual redouble is ... infinity minus infinity. If you know how much that is, please tell me, and I'll notify the mathematicians."
