I'd just rip two. We have to break a point so the only plausible alternative seems to be 4/3 4/1, but bearing no checkers seems too costly for the race, and it's not like we're safe against future blotting. Besides, if we're hit, we get a shot at White's third checker.

By the way, Mike, what do you mean that you "felt uneasy"?
