In Response To: 1920's BG scoring matches on eBay (Chuck Bower)

(1) Very plausible, given using cigarette matches obviously preceded the plastic ones.

(2) Good conjecture, although it's odd that the eBay set has two shades of red. Maybe the owner had a couple of sets that were somehow combined. From the poor condition of the case, it looks like it received a lot of use.

As to the higher values, I counted the number of matches in my set. The outside has seen relatively little wear, so all in all I may have an original quantity. And indeed, my count is:

White = 32 matches.

Red = 8 matches.

Dark Blue = 8 matches.

I am guessing that the color values were related to powers of 2.
